Artist Susan Capan.....

Susan Capan, owner and resident artist of Capanart Gallery,  has been painting and drawing all her life. She is mostly self taught, an award winner, private art teacher and guest show judge. Her subject range is varied, although portraiture predominates and customers are amazed at the range of subjects she does paint. Her studio is at the rear of her gallery on beautiful Mt. Tamborine in Queensland's, Gold Coast Hinterland, Australia, where she finds plenty of inspiration to paint. She usually works by commission using the clients photo, which can be emailed or a hard copy sent by post. Susan prides herself in creating a really good result from a clients photograph and using a little artistic licence to enhance and improve the subject. Once a commission is requested Susan stays in contact with the client and shows a photo of each stage of the painting so the client can enjoy the process and request variations and changes if need be which makes it a very rewarding experience for both artist and client. Susan is also creating more abstract works in unique styles full of energy and colour. See her page for latest works.

Susan's history.

Susan loved drawing from a very early age. Originally from the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria and moving to Queensland in 1983 with her husband Paul and two daughters. They lived on the Gold Coast for 18 years before settling on beautiful, inspiring Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia, where they built their dream,  'The Secret Garden Gallery & Cafe', which is still running as a gallery and cafe today. They ran this for a few years before selling up as it became very popular and too big for them so they chose to downsize to a smaller gallery in the popular Gallery Walk tourist strip on the mountain.

While Susan ran The Secret Garden Gallery, many paintings were sold to private and corporate customers worldwide and  a clientele was built up who from time to time would request her to do another commission for them.

Susan's new gallery,  'Capanart Gallery' has now been operating since 2009 and is located at 110 Long Rd. Gallery Walk, Eagle Heights, Queensland, Australia. See my blog for story about the building of the gallery and the grand opening.

Living and working in the beautiful green environment of Tamborine Mountain is a dream come true and a mecca for artists and daytrippers,
I invite you to visit my gallery which is open 7 days or by ringing the bell at the door if we are not open as I could be painting one of my portrait commissions at the back of the gallery in the studio.
